Support Planting Justice!

Planting Justice started in 2009 with two staff transforming yards using tools from a public lending library. Now PJ employs over 50 people with living wage-jobs and full benefits for themselves and family members. We prioritize hiring local people who have been directly impacted by mass incarceration and other social inequities–over 2/3 of PJ staff are formerly incarcerated or family members of people currently or formerly incarcerated, and most of the East Oakland Nursery staff live in the Sobrante Park neighborhood.

Your support is instrumental in helping us finish our two current major infrastructure projects that will allow us to expand the reach and impact of our programs:

These projects are huge undertakings, but every amount you can give helps bring them that much closer to reality. Of course, donations also allow us to continue our holistic Reentry and community empowerment programs, which include wrap-around support services and educational programs for formerly incarcerated and system impacted staff, community members, and youth.

Can't Donate? We hope to see you volunteering at at our East Oakland or El Sobrante sites soon!

Thank you for your continued support in growing food and community!
